What is the best skim board for me?
I’m a pretty decent skim boarder and my last board was a Zap Mini Lazer. Well it broke so i’m looking for a new one. I’m 5’9 135 lbs. I’m really good at riding in the sand but i’m interested in going out into the waves a little bit. I don’t wanna spend more than $200-$250. What type of board should i get?
Well I can understand why your last board broke. You were almost twice the recommended weight for that board. With the money you’re willing to spend you can get just about any board you want. If you want to stay with Zap and slowly transition from sand to surf you could try the larger boards from their novice catalog and try a fish or a large wedge. If you want to move up a notch to their more experienced category you could go with a chizel or if you want a lot of growing room up to 180 pounds get a medium pro. My preference though would be to switch from zap to Victoria and go with the Victoria Foamie, it’s probably the best board for transitioning from the sand to the surf.
What is really the best idea though is for you to learn more about skimming yourself.
