Is a netbook a good computer for me?

I am a student, so I write reports and save them onto my flash drive (not computer) I have been eying some net books from target.com and walmart.com and the dell magazine
I have a laptop, but the battery is dead, and it is not very good

I just need something that I can surf the web (facebook, my email, chat with friends) and type up some school work
I don’t download music (well I would download iTunes) nor play games,

I am looking for something cheap (not in performance wise, just price)

What would be the best laptop computer for me?

Yes, a netbook will be okay for you. However, notebooks will always be more powerful
