Kite Harness Size

I want to get into Kiteboarding / Landboarding. What equipment should i buy and where?
I seen clips of people kite surfing and of them land boarding(riding a landboard with a kite) and now i’m interested. What should i get that is a good all around investment.
–What is the difference between a 8m and 16m?
–Ground industries best brand?
–Best affordable kite?
–What else do i need? harness?
–best place to find packages deals?
i want something that will be the all-around pick. something affordable but has good speed, great lift, and right size for 160 lb man.
I grew up with two brothers and we are all competitive so we learn quickly. i think we can figure it out with practice. thanks
DO NOT try this sport without taking lessons first. its an amazing sport that is easy to learn, almost too easy. things can get out of control in a split second even if you know what your doing. if you dont odds are you will end up hurting yourself or worse someone else. i dont want to put you off from the sport and dont mean to sound rude, but its really easy to get in a bad situation. research a local kite school and try a few lessons. many will even give you a deal on buying equipment that you learn on or hook you up with a package at a local shop. i know the shops arround me wont even sell to a person who hasnt taken lessons. just remember that your effectively tying yourself to something strong enough to lift people over 60 ft in the air

Prism Snapshot 2.5 Kite $174.95 The affordable new Prism Snapshot 2.5 Kite fits radical aerial thrills in your pocket, your briefcase, or the glove box of your car. Exceptionally fast and hard-pulling for their size, it will keep you on your toes when the wind picks up. Unlike most parafoils, the Snapshot sports a tight, responsive turn response that feels like driving a finely tuned sports car as compared to a truck; it just feels good carving up the sky. Smaller than the foils you’d use for buggying or kiteboarding, this wing is the ideal intro to power kiting and dual-line control. It’s great for learning the basics because there’s nothing to break when you crash, but you’ll bring yours everywhere once you get the hang of it because its just so much fun. Carefully shaped inlets keep the wing from collapsing in gusty wind, a constant problem with lesser designs, and the elliptical planform with a new airfoil profile minimizes drag for awesome speed and acceleration. Complete with Spectra lines already attached, flight straps, winder, and tail, the Snapshot will make a wind junkie out of you on your first breezy day. Fly Safe! Power kites can easily pull you off your feet in a breeze and the larger sizes could cause serious injury if mishandled. Flying safely is your responsibility, so use common sense when you fly and read all instruction manuals carefully before your first flight. Do not fly near power lines, roads, vehicles, other people, or storms. If you’re a beginner, be sure you can safely control your kite in light winds before attempting to fly in stronger winds. Not for children under 13. |

Kite $70.1 A kite is a flying tethered aircraft that depends upon the tension of a tethering system. The necessary lift that makes the kite wing fly is generated when air (or in some cases water)flows over and under the kites wing, producing low pressure above the wing and high pressure below it. This deflection also generates horizontal drag along the direction of the wind. The resultant force vector from the lift and drag force components is opposed by the tension of the one or more lines or tethers. The anchor point of the kite line may be static or moving (e.g., the towing of a kite by a running person, boat,or vehicle). Kites are usually heavierthanair, but there is a second category of lighterthanair kite called a helikite which will fly with or without wind. Helikites work on a different stability principle to normal kites as helikites are heliumstabilised as well as wind stabilised. They are a stable combination of a helium balloon and kitesail to create a single aerodynamically sound kite Author: Miller, Frederic P./ Vandome, Agnes F./ McBrewster, John Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 92 Publication Date: 2010/08/02 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.22 inches |
