Catalytic Converter replacement on 2003 Grand AM GT?

I have a 2003 Grand AM GT with 220,000 km. CEL is on and the code reads “low catalytic efficiency”. I changed both O2 sensors (figured they likely weren’t the culprits, but would eventually need changing anyways). Performance has been sluggish and continues to get a bit worse over time (could be back pressure, could be in my head…). I think I’m going to have to finally bite the bullet an get the CAT replaced. CAT warranty is obviously pooched with the high mileage. Does anyone know what an after-market CAT should cost me? Any recommendations on shops in the Toronto area that would do this for a reasonable cost (don’t think I want to tackle this one myself)?

Sounds like your catalytic converter. I’m not sure how much it’ll run on that car. On my v6 mustang it was over $1,000 (two cats and two resonators all in one single piece x pipe) but on my v8 camaro it was only $250.

I’d take it to any Midas or Car x. Make sure to call around for prices.
